As you develop the article, keep the following in mind:

1. Are you losing the main intention of creating the article?

Article writing is done for three things: branding, lead generation and promotion. These three components are a major part of your optimization plan.

You achieve the three components by informing your target audience. Your purpose is to inform them through your writing. If the article is not focused on this primary and most important purpose, it will fail because no one will be interested in reading it.


2. Are you failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing?

You position yourself to achieve this by using your keyword list to generate the content of your articles. If you begin with that list in mind and focus on content clarity, you will optimize search engine ranking. Use keyword placement suggested for blogs:

  • use a keyword or keyword phrase in the title
  • use same in the subheadings, and
  • use them in content throughout the article.

The frequency must make sense or may set off alarms as overkill. Consider including word associations if that helps the content.

3. Are you writing content that does not help your readers

This should be considered for several reasons:

From the reader’s point of view, this process is like getting a job. The resume gets you the interview. The interview sells the employer on whether to hire you. Similarly, the title of your article may determine if the reader wants to continue to read what you have written. The content will determine if they want to visit your website and learn about your services.

Free content submission sites require that you select the subject from their drop-down list that closely fits your article’s content.  Try as you might, the content is in sync with the title, the body of the article and the conclusion.  Everything flows well.

However, the submission site may not accept the article per the subject you chose.  Personally, this happened three times for one article.  This website was the last of several to which the article was submitted.  Please read: the article was accepted at other free content submission websites.  If this happens to you, you have two choices: either continue attempting to satisfy this particular website’s requirement or move on.  The article will have been in circulation already before the eyes of your intended readers and most likely, those you did not intend to attract, but who appreciate your work nonetheless.

IF the content does not provide your readers with answers, solutions, new information, or tips, refer to question 1.  The content was not strong enough to attract and keep the intended target market. 

Free content submission websites have guidelines.  They vary so read all that you join and follow them to the letter.  In one article, I attempted to place a link within the article, totally legitimate within the content of the information, but the article was rejected.
